IFSA Study Abroad
Study Abroad in Cuba
IFSA offers a study abroad partnership with Universidad de La Habana (UH), Cuba's oldest and most prestigious university, which attracts students from throughout Latin America and around the world!
Located next to the heart of Havana's historic district, UH offers a unique opportunity for the adventurous and flexible student. IFSA students integrate with Cuban students in elective courses in a wide variety of disciplines and take one core course developed exclusively for IFSA students focused on Cuban culture and patrimony. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in a wide variety of clubs and activities, including intramural sports, where you can get to know your Cuban peers. Academic advising and tutoring are also available throughout the semester at no additional cost.
You’ll be able to enjoy a long weekend field study trip into the Cuban heartland to experience rural life and interact with Cubans of all ages. The arts, especially music, play an important role in Cuban culture, so enjoy! Just 90 miles southeast of the Florida Keys, Cuba is close by but feels like it’s a world away.
As a student in Cuba you will enjoy a self-sustaining, rural community, lush, green mountains and urban palm trees in a country with unique culture, politics and economy. You’ll come face-to-face with history and learn firsthand how historic events influence the present. At the same time, students in Cuba see changes daily as the country adapts to changing times and prepares for the future.
IFSA, a non-profit educational organization, is driven to provide you a high-quality academic and cultural experience with the support services you need, and the fees you don’t – such as no application or transcript fees. Our on-site staff serve as advisors, counselors, and mentors who will help you make the most of your experience and guide you throughout the semester.
